You may have noticed Body Wraps on the internet. They’ve become very popular these days. From detoxing your body to nourishing your skin to helping you lose weight, body wraps provide a lot of benefits.
The best part is they are cheap and don’t require you to spend hours at the gym. Seems too good to be true?
In today’s article, we will tell you about 8 such body wraps with different health benefits and how you can make them at home.
#8. Detoxification Wrap:
This wrap technique mainly involves the use of Epsom Salt, Cacao Powder, Green Tea and Coconut Oil. The Epsom salts pull water from your body, and your skin absorbs the antioxidants in Cacao Powder and Green Tea. They help fight free radicals when your pores open up, drawing out toxins.
Combine 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 1/4 cup sea or Epsom salt, 5 drops of your favourite essential oil. Cut open the green tea bags and add them to mixture & add 1 tbsp cacao powder. Mix all together to form a thick paste. Spread the mixture on the desired area and rub it on with an exfoliating glove.
Next, take a plastic wrap and begin at your pubic line area, wrapping the plastic around your abdomen. Now cover your belly using the same process with the ace bandages and secure it, but not to the point where you feel you can’t breathe.
Lay down or sit comfortably in a reclining chair. Turn on your heating pad and place over your abdomen. Make sure you place something thin in between. Let your first DIY body wrap sit for at least 2.5 hours. For the 2nd to the 4th wrap, one and a half hours is excellent. When it’s time to take everything off, give your skin another good exfoliation with an exfoliating glove or your wet hands before taking a shower. After the shower, apply your favourite moisturizer or oil on the affected area.
#7. Circulation Boosting Body Wrap
This wrap’s main ingredients are ginger and clay, both of which are known to boost circulation in your body. Mix 2 tablespoons of ginger root or powder, 5 tablespoons bentonite clay powder and 10 tablespoons warm water by hand, or in a blender for about a minute or two, until combined. For maximum effectiveness, do it manually as most mixers use metal blades that may reduce the power of the bentonite clay if it comes into contact.
Apply this mixture to the part of your body where you wish to improve the circulation and wrap it tightly with plastic. Since this is a potent wrap, leave it on your body for about 20 to 40 minutes. Then rinse it off with warm water followed by a cold water rinse.
#6. Skin Revitalizing and Softening Wrap
The hero ingredient of this wrap is Papaya which contains enzymes that are known for softening and revitalizing the skin. It also includes a natural fruit acid that works the same way as an alpha hydroxyl acid. It is a great exfoliant, helping remove dead skin cells and leaving your skin feeling smooth and soft.
To make this body wrap, warm up the room. This way, you’re able to lie down comfortably without getting cold. Using a blender, puree the pulp of very ripe Papaya until it’s smooth. Spread it over your body, making sure not to rub it in. Roll your body in a plastic sheet. Lie down on some old towels and wrap these around for about 20 minutes.
Afterward, unwrap the plastic and wash off the Papaya in a warm shower. Your skin should feel rejuvenated immediately.
#5. Weight Loss Wrap
This wrap uses the weight loss properties of its main ingredient, clay.
Clay body wraps work by absorbing the fluid-based toxins in your body that are stored between the cells. After the fluids are flushed, the wrapping process helps to squeeze and compact the tissue, making you lose those inches.
Fill a stainless-steel pot with 1/2 gallon of distilled water. Bring the water to a boil on the stove, then remove it from the heat. Add 2 cups of clay to the hot water. The best choices for body wraps include sea clay, bentonite clay, and white clay. Pour 1 cup of Epsom salt or sea salt into the pot. Add 1 cup dried herbs like ginger or neem to the water. Then add 1 cup of kelp powder and two to five drops of your favorite essential oil.
Stir all of the ingredients in the pot well with a spoon. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Now take a thin towel and dip it into the mixture, lightly wringing it out as you take it from the pot. Wrap the towel lengthwise around your extended right leg, starting at the ankle. Make sure it is snug.
Finally, cover your body up with the heavy thermal blanket to keep the wrap from losing heat too quickly. Lie flat for 60 minutes with the towels and the thermal blanket wrapped around your body. After 60 minutes, remove the towels one at a time. Take a cool or lukewarm shower afterward and see the magic!
#4. Cellulite Reducing Wrap
This wrap involves the use of Coffee Powder to reduce the appearance of cellulite over time. Caffeine is very effective against cellulite. It tightens and provides antioxidants to your skin when applied topically. When used religiously, it can reduce the appearance of cellulite over time.
Combine 1 cup coffee, 6 tablespoon coconut oil and 3 tablespoon sea salt ingredients in a glass measuring jar and microwave for 30 seconds to melt the oil. Stir and pour this mixture into an air-tight container for storage.
Use this mixture once per week. Massage it into your thighs and wrap tightly with saran wrap. Let it sit for one hour. Then shower off and pat your legs dry. You can use a brush afterwards to help remove excess lymph. Repeat this for a couple of months and see the difference.
#3. Body Wrap for Muscle Pain
This body wrap comprises a new ingredient to soothe those aching muscles. Cayenne Powder’s healing properties are used, which are beneficial to sore muscles, aches and pains. Just be careful with cayenne powder. If left too long, or it gets too hot can burn your skin.
Take 2 tablespoons cayenne powder, 10 tablespoons white clay and add them to about 20 tablespoons of warm water to make a paste. Now add 2-3 drops of your favourite essential oil. Warm the paste in the microwave for a few seconds, if necessary.
Apply the mixture to the painful area, then use plastic wrap around it. Allow this to sit for 10 to 12 minutes. After the initial 10 to 12 minutes rinse or shower the mixture thoroughly off your skin. Be careful and don’t leave this paste for on for long. It may burn your skin.
#2. Wrap for Body Healing
This wrap uses the healing properties of chamomile herbs. If you’ve been feeling stressed, unwell and tired for no reason, this wrap will completely revitalize your body. Remember to drink plenty of water before, during and after your wrap.
Pour 3 cups of boiling water into your sink and leave some herbal chamomile tea-bags to seep. When the tea is strong, soak an old sheet with the tea. The tea should still be warm, but not overly hot. Then mix two tablespoons of olive oil with a few drops of lavender, peppermint and geranium essential oils. Massage the oil into your body and wrap yourself in an old sheet, leaving your arms and head free.
Wrap the sheet in some plastic wrap to keep it close to your body, but not constricting. Lie down on old towels and wrap these around you too. Set a timer for 20 minutes. When your time is up, unwrap yourself and rinse off in a warm shower.
